Preparation Before Travelling

Preparation before Traveling: The Basic Things to Do

So, you decide to take a vacation, which means that you will be away for a while. Traveling can be fun, but it can also be disastrous if you aren’t well prepared. On the contrary to what people generally believe, traveling requires solid planning and good management. You don’t want to ruin your only chance to be away from the hustle and bustle of daily chaos and hectic schedules, do you? So, what should you do to prepare your trip as best as you can?

Make Solid Plans
It is obvious that you should be making plans about your transportation and accommodation. Decide where you want to stay; is it at hotels, at a resort, a hotel, a villa, etc? How are you going there? Can you reach it by car or do you have to fly there? Do you need one flight only, or do you have to make several stops that may include several kinds of transportation (such as an airplane, ferry, bus, car, etc)? Planning ahead won’t only help you avoid confusion, but it will also help you plan out your budgets. Make sure that you have taken care of everything concerning your accommodation and transportation before you leave.

It is best that you have made the lodging and transportation bookings several weeks before your departure. Make sure that they have everything you want, so don’t hesitate to ask for details. Check and confirm again with them about two days before you leave; just to make sure that everything has been set and will go as planned.

Manage Your Money
You can’t go anywhere without money, so make sure that you have everything set and well prepared. It would be best if you can check whether you can find ATM or money exchange counter at your destination airport. It is also a good idea to bring cash with you, although it is advisable that you put them in scattered and hidden places. Never put them all together within one place. In case you lose your wallet, for instance, you still have some money left.

Carry Important Items
Don’t forget to carry important items, such as traveling documents (in case you are traveling abroad), medicines, and other stuff you consider important. Make sure that you always carry around the most important stuff, such as wallet or passport.

My grandmother liked traveling and she had this hidden pouch (more like a belt wallet) that she carried around her belt, covered by her shirt. She kept all the important documents, money, and wallet there, so she wouldn’t worry about pickpockets.

Make Travel List
It would be perfect if you can make your own traveling list, covering all the items you bring and all the activities you plan. Making such list is really helpful and you are guaranteed to have well prepared and well-managed vacation.

Have fun!
